Who sleeps in bed next to you?

Nobody, unless I have the door open and the cat comes in.

What kind of magazines do you read?

Mostly history- and science/tech-related ones. The only one I'm subscribed to is Invention & Technology, but I sometimes read American Heritage at the library or buy an issue of National Geocraphic at the store.

What was the last book you read? What are you currently reading?

The last two books I read were Dark Horse: The Surprise Election and Political Murder of President James A, Garfield by Kenneth D. Ackerman, and Life on a Young Planet: The First Three Billion Years of Evolution on Earth by Andrew H. Knoll.

I'm currently reading Abraham Lincoln's World: How Riverboats, Railroads, and Republicans Transformed America

What's really creepy?

How many young-Earth creationists there are in the US.

Who is your celebrity crush?

Gay: Not quite sure. There are a few I like looking at, though.
Straight: Drea De Matteo, as Adriana La Cerva in The Sopranos.

Quote some lyrics that you love:

I tend to be more into the music than the lyrics, but here are a few I like:

"She was married when we first met, soon to be divorced" (and most of the rest of the song)
-- Bob Dylan, "Tangled Up in Blue"

"I saw her from the corner when she turned and doubled back / And started walkin' toward a coffee-colored Cadillac / I was pushin' through the crowd to get to where she's at / And I was campaign shouting like a southern diplomat"
-- Chuck Berry, "Nadine"

"Across the street, a neon sign / 'All you can eat for a dollar ninety-nine' / That old stew is the baddest in the land / But one dollar's worth / Was all than I could stand // Sometimes... (Sometimes.. )/ Sometimes bad is bad / I said, cool this rumor (Awww-ooh) / Sometimes, bad is bad (Aw do-do-do-do-do-do-wah, wah)"
-- Huey Lewis and the News, "Bad is Bad

"She hates her life, she hates her skin, she even hates her friends / She's try'n' to hold onto a reputation she can't mend / There's a small chance / We could fail / But the last time / Someone was always there for bail"
-- Toad the Wet Sprocket, "Fall Down"

"A tournament, a tournament, a tournament of lies / Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives / But I decline // It's the end of the world as we know it / It's the end of the world as we know it / It's the end of the world as we know it / And I feel fine"
-- R.E.M., "It's the End of the World as we Know It"

"This here is the place where I will be staying / There isn't a number, you can call the payphone / Let it ring a long, long, long, long time / If I don't pick up, hang up / Call back, let it ring some more / Ohhhhh / If I don't pick up, pick up / The sidewinder sleeps, sleeps, sleeps in a coil"
"There are scratches all around the the coin slot / Like a heartbeat, baby, trying to get up / But this machine can only / Swallow money / You can't lay a patch by computer design / It's just a lot of stupid, stupid signs / Tell her / Tell her she can kiss my ass then laugh / And say that you were only kidding / That way she'll know that it's really really really really me"
-- R.E.M., "The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite"
(I love these kind of R.E.M. lyrics)

"Games people play, you take it or you leave it / Things that they say, honor bright / If I promised you the moon and the stars, would you believe it / Games people play, in the middle of the night // Games people play, you take it or you leave it / Things that they say, just don't make it right / If I'm telling you the truth right now, would you believe it / Games people play, in the middle of the night"
-- Alan Parsons Project, "Games People Play"

"Headed out to San Fransisco / Definitely not L.A."
-- The Replacements, "Left of the Dial"

"In the garage, I feel safe / No one cares about my ways / In the garage where I belong / No one hears me sing this song"
-- Weezer, "In the Garage"

Nothing in particular: the computer's fan, the keyboard, birds chirping outside, my own thoughts.
